Seventh-day Adventists believe that they are proclaiming the three angels’ messages predicted in Revelation 14. The first and second angels’ messages seemed especially significant to the Advent believers in the 1843–1844 period. They felt the force of the time element that located their day in the prophetic time scheme. They observed the repudiation of the preaching of the Second Coming by the popular churches.
